SYD Fuji X Aus + George’s Cameras

Disclaimer: Sorry that this post has been released so late! When I nearly finished it last month, it disappeared quite suddenly and ever since then I haven’t put the time back into completing this. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this recount of our first collaboration with George’s Cameras!

FUJI X AUS – International Man of Mystery Edition – Melbourne Meetup

Whenever we hold a meet up of some sort, I often get asked if we do this kind of thing often. My answer is always ‘as often as we can’. Now that is a personal and selfish response of course because the highlights of my limited social calendar are to catch up with my photography friends and do what we do best. There is usually some form of photography related activity – a workshop or a street walk. And of course, there is the social aspect of talking gear, skills, experiences and just talking life. Getting to know one another.  Meeting new folk and catching up with seasoned friends. So ‘as often as I can’ is a true testament to this particular photographic group who has a core set of values around community, respect and support.

Fuji X Aus – Queen Victoria Night Market – Melbourne Meetup

One of the greatest things about our particular photographic community here at Fuji X Aus is the delight we take in meeting up with one another. Be it for a more formal event such as People With Cameras – as organized by Fujifilm Australia. Or just our regular meetups with a bunch of locals for an afternoon. Delightful. In recent months we have had a number of interstate members make the trip down to Melbourne for various reasons. But we always aim to make an event out of it and organize some time to meet and greet, a bit of photography and a great meal where possible.

FXA Perth landscape photography workshop experiences and my lessons learned – Janice Kho

Landscape photography has become one of my favourite genres of photography since I changed over to the Fujifilm X mirrorless camera system. It’s hard to go wrong with the combination of experiencing nature and its beauty with the creativity of photography. When I heard from our fellow FXA Perth reps Gus and Chong that they were looking into organising FXA Perth’s first ever landscape photography workshop down in Margaret River, I was stoked! I was also excited to hear a fellow FXA Facebook community member James Posilero will be running the workshop. I’ve long admired his beautiful landscape photography that he shares in the group. It was a fun and educational weekend down in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. It was also the perfect sized group of 6 photographers. We got to know each other, our photography interests and also learned from each other.

Fuji X Aus – Melbourne Photo Walk – 24 November 2018

Something a little bit different from me this time around. Not going to interview anyone. Not going to review any gear. Just going to talk about what was an epic day. A day, for me and I am sure my fellow participants, that was all about community, friendship and of course photography.  What more could you want? Oh yes, there was plenty of fine coffee. And of course, a day spent in Melbourne always includes amazing food. And the weather turned out to be not too bad after a drizzly start. So let me tell you all about the most recent Fuji X Aus Melbourne photo walk.

Sydney | People with Cameras 2018

(Featured Photo by Ivor Dwitomo)

Melbourne had the first piece of cake of ‘People with Cameras’ on September 1st. Us Sydney folks had no choice but to watch from afar. We knew PWC was coming to Sydney in November, but a lot of us were jealous to see the buzz on Facebook. The retailers brought in lenses, drones, tripods, filters and the sheer numbers of attendees out with their cameras on a rainy afternoon. Rumours spread vastly that Chuck Norris (Joe Jongue) himself led the Fuji X Aus photowalk. Continue reading “Sydney | People with Cameras 2018”

Perth Landscape Workshop – Chong Lee

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to help run a Landscape Photography Workshop as part of the Fuji X Aus Facebook group. The workshop was headed by our amazing James Posilero and organised by our Perth Admin – Gus Potenza. This took months in the making and I was glad that it went off without a hitch – Chong Lee.

To read the rest of Chong’s telling of this amazing experience, then please check out his blog here.

Fuji X Aus Perth Meetup – Chong Lee

Over the weekend, I hosted a photo meet up as part of the Fuji X Aus group. For this event, I wanted to check out the Swan Bell Tower. They are actually running a competition on their website at the moment, so I thought it would be a cool place to check out. As part of their competition, they are offering free entry for photographers. I have linked the details of the competition here, and the free entry voucher here if you want to check it out.

A Camera-Shy Photographer’s Journey to Vlogging {Part 1}

Most photographers would prefer to be behind the camera, not in front (unless you are Mark Saltissi, a full-time photographer and model.) So why did I decide to take the bullet by agreeing to do my first vlog? Because I know there are many camera-shy photographers in our Facebook group who are petrified to take the leap, so here I am. Okay, jokes aside and to the point, I’m naturally impulsive and I hope this blog + vlog (part 2) will inspire you to be more impulsive to vlog as well. Here we go.
